If you are good friends you should really just be honest with him and he will understand one way or the other. Just be truthful and tell him you like him. If he doesn't like you back, he will understand that you are human and as such inherantly have an attraction which you cannot control. If he doesn't like you, you guys can go from there with your firendship and if he does, then you can take it from there with your more than friendship. I understand it is difficult, but the best thing to do is just to tell him.
