you definitely need to stop and its sounds glad that you're trying...if you are currently pregnant, it could deform the baby...and the baby could be really small...to stop, you could go to your doctor or just stop cold turkeyOk i know tht people prob read my ? and think tht im stupid but i just just need advice not to judged ?
Most women are lucky and the changes in taste and smell help them to quit. I know it did for me. Try chewing some sugar free gum when ever you feel the need for a cigarette or do something else. The craving usually only lasts a few minutes although the addiction to smoking is not only the nicotein, its also a habit (for example when you are on the phone or in the car, its also the taste, smell and generally the good feeling you get from having a smoke). Generally the majority of the addiction can be ignored with strong mind power. Think about the baby when ever you have a craving and do something else. Within about 24 hours all the nicotein has left you body and its just the habit thats left. You can quit! I know its easier said than done, but it really is possible.
Some women smoke through their entire pregnancy and have a perfectly healthy baby. But theres also the other half of women who have a baby of small birth weight and numerous other problems.
You have to find something that works for you. There are many methods to quitting smoking. Quitting smoking is one of the hardest addictions (not THE hardest, but one of) to get rid of. You can try chewing gum or sucking on a lollipop. Some have said that smoking cigarretts is related to an oral fixation, so that could suffice your cravings. Another alternative is the shot, I'm not sure if a pregnant woman can go this route or not, so I'll try to keep it as ';organic/natural'; as possible. You can try meditation. Meditation is both beneficial to your baby and you, so it can do no harm. Accupuncture might be an alternative, if you're a) insurance covers it, and b) can afford it, check with your doctor before doing any of the previous methods. These are just a few things you can try. Hope this helps you. good luck and take care of that baby. My Best Friend smoked her entire pregnancy, and of course I told her how bad it was for the child, etc. She cut back, and her baby is just fine. I in no way condone smoking during pregnancy and after birth, but if you must smoke, at least cut back to the bare minimum, just to curve your cravings for one.
My ex sister in law had a bad habit of smoking. She smoked so much that she was advised not to completely quit smoking because her body would go through too bad of with drawls! NOT GOOD!
You should really go to your dr and see what they can get for you because some drugs or treatments may be reallly harmful for the baby. My dad quit smoking by using lollipops. Like those small dum dum or even blow pops, pick your choice but it did help him alot. Instead of putting and taking out a cigarette you can put in and take out a lollipop. You should give it try!! Good Luck and I hope everything works out for you.
Oh so people have even tried tooth pics. Something to just keep your hands busy as well as your mouth because alot of people tried gum but smoking is a hand and mouth coordination.
I know how hard it is to try and quit smoking. I had the same problem when I was pregnant with all 3 of my kids. The best thing to do is cut down. I don't know what kind you smoke right now, but I was smoking Marlboro's and then when I became pregnant I went to lights for like a month then to ultra lights, I would try at first to limit how much I smoked a day. I eventually got down to like 2 cigs a day buy the third month. People make judgments and most of them are people who do not smoke. They don't realize how hard it is to quit. But if you can cut down that would be great. Women have been smoking for how many years, and there was never a way for them to quit before and their babies turned out fine. My first one was 10 days late and over 9 pounds, 2nd was 7-13 and born on due date, 3rd was 8'4 and a few days late. Try not to stress yourself out over this cause that can be worse on the baby. Just try to cut down and if you can quit all together that is great also. Good luck to you sweetie..
I had the same problem with my first and am now having the same problem now. like one of the comments said I smoked so much my dr told me not to quit just to cut down. my son was born early only bc my water broke. he was 7lbs 15oz. women have been smoking during pregnancy before all these researches were done and they will be smoking after. its hard. every day I tell myself today is the day then something will stress me and I'm outside half way done with my cig before I know it. you have to have a lot of determination and selflessness. good luck honey!
you have to want it enough. think about this any time you go to smoke, would you blow smoke in your babies face? if not, put down the cigarette, it wont be easy but it would be worth it. it really restricts blood flow to your baby, you dont want to deprive it of what they need. try to avoid ppl and places that influence you to smoke. practive makes perfect, stop one cig. at a time
If you are very serious about smoking, there is a drug you should ask your doctor about. It's called Wellbutrin XL. Many people I know have had great success with it. It is expensive, but no amount of money is too much to make sure your baby has a healthy body with a healthy mother. Good luck.
I know that it's difficult. I had a friend that switched to lights to try to get off, she ended up miscarrying though. Your obgyn will tell you what you should do and how to wean without drugs.
I know of certain drugs you could take, if you weren't pregnant, but obviously that's no help. I just suggest talking to your doctor.
