I have a quick question! i want to change my recruiter.. because i think he is the most irresponsable recruiter. i started all my processing on july and im still waiting to know what day im goin to go to basic trainning. and its already 2 months since i am in the Delayed Entry Program (DEP). i got a 75 on the asvab, and all my medical examination was good. i dont see why he never calls me. and i feel i have to be chasing him. all the time he tells me to call him back in 30 or 45 min s and when i do.. his answering machine answers.and i kno this is not the way all AF recruiters work. my uncle is a Master Sgt. and he told me how some of the recruiters that he knows work really hard to help the recruits.i really dont kno why this is taking so long!!! when im basicly ready to go. i just feel like this recruiter is very lazy and irresponsable, because even after my uncle called him and had a conference call with him and my uncles supervisor because the recruiter didnt call me for a whole month or i think even more.. he cahnge a lil bit.. the first 2 weeks and was actually calling me to let me know few stuff.... but now.. he is back to being the same lazy bastard (%26lt;%26lt;pardon me!) . so do you guys think this is a good idea to just call another recruiter even tho my papers are with this other recruiter. because to i dont want to call my uncle , because i know he will get this recuiter in trouble by calling his supervisor.
i greatly appreciate every answer. all i ask is to please asnwer this questions with answers that make sense... thank you.USAF people!!!!!! i need an advice!!!! ?
My recruiter has never acted like that towards me. I think it is really weird that a recruiter basically won't talk to you or help you out. I talk to mine at least once a week and I ship out this Tuesday. But, your spot honestly might not be ready yet. I found out about a month after MEPS when I would be leaving. First, you need to go talk to him face to face and then if he doesn't change then go to his boss. I know it would suck to get him in trouble, but if he isn't doing his job then you can't help it. Because you probably aren't the only recruit this is happening to. But if you go talk to his boss then he can get you switched to a different recruiter and all of your paperwork to and that will be the end of it and you will be better off.USAF people!!!!!! i need an advice!!!! ?
It really is not you recruiter, it is the Air Force. Since they are overmanned, you will not ship until they have a spot for you. If you wanted to ship sooner, I heard you can change your MOS to Security Forces. I would not recommend that unless you like checking IDs all day.
when you ship is when a slot opens up.. and the recruiter has ZERO control over that. it can easily be six months or longer, especially with the AF being overmannned .
you cannot switch recruiters, you would be basically starting from scratch.
go to another recruiter, thas wat i did...even tho that recruiter has records of you, that doesnt matter...jus go to another recruiter
Don't call your recruiter. Go and see him. Sit down and talk to him (face to Face). Get your answers direct. The direct approach works .
Talk to another recruiter. It's not like you married the first one. You just talked about a job.
Your recruiter, doesn't determine when you ship to basic.
So until they tell him, he cannot tell you.
Why do you seem to want the recruiter to hold your hand the whole time ?
If he has nothing new to tell you, why should he call you ?
Your acting like a spoiled child.
IE: pay attention to me !!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you don't like it, then walk away, ask for a DEP discharge.
Well, being in DEPS there is no guaranteed time that you are leaving. Like everyone else said, it depends on when a slot opens up. If you really want to go quick, try changing your job. My little brother changed his to whatever was available and he got shipped 3 weeks later. On ship he was going in for mechanic but halfway through basic, he got in security forces. It's all in what they need that matters. He just lucked out (he could not make it as a mechanic. lol). Good luck to you!
It's like the rest of the people here have said, the Air Force is the branch with the longest DEP. many people have been in DEP for 8-12 months before heading out to BMT. Until a slot opens up with what you signed up for, you're going to have to wait it out (I know, it sucks!!) Well, good luck:)
My husband was in DEP for 5 months before he went to basic!
Like everyone else said it is not his fault. He doesn't need to call
you for anything. All he would be doing is saying oh...your still waiting.
He can not make a spot open up fo you. Good job calling your uncle...your recruiter is probably not going to try and help you out at all now. That stuff is not going to go over well once your in. You need to learn to take care of yourself and not run to your uncle for things. You are going to have a rough time getting through life in the USAF if you run to him for everything. If you get a different recruiter he is probably just going to pass the word a long about what a pain you are and he isnt going to do anything for you either. You could always go in OPEN and get the first available job for you.
