Why do people ask questions for advice then.....?

when you have answered their question and gave advice they then twist it, I have offered advice to someone on Yahoo answers and it has been twisted into something that it was not, i just happened to come across a question tonight where i am mentioned several times, please everyone be careful what you answer peoples questions with, i normally take great care in serious answers as i work in mental health and understand that serious answers have to be well though out so that help can be found safely, i hope others out there have not been put into the position i now feel i am in, i will not name the person who is making on i am some sort of 'freind' and never will as they have issues that i will no longer help by answering,

Ryn... I've looked at the question... she sounds like a bloody nutter... sorry, that offends you... as you work in mental health... but flipping heck... she needs sectioning mate!





I wouldn't worry about it... she is clearly not all there or at best unstable... just tell her to pick a window....Why do people ask questions for advice then.....?
I think that people should respect the question. If it is in jest, then reply in jest. If it is a serious question then one should attempt to make a positive reply.
As of yet not yet here but my questions are not deep ones. Although I believe this happens everywhere at work, at home. In certain circumstances people only here what they want to here and will fit any answer given to what they want to believe and convince themselves.
One never knows how onels advice/comments will be taken. I suggest you stay true to yourself and answer questions thoughtfully and honestly. If people choose to twist your answers, purposefully or not, that's out of your control. I hope you don't let this unfortunate occurrence prevent you from answering questions in the future. Don`t go too deep with the answers. I also work in healthcare and know you can`t solve everyones problems. You don`t have a magic wand and people sometimes misinterpret things. Your avatar looks ok to me. Kind of mystical.
when you ask a question or answer one, you are putting yourself out there for anyone to reply back to you, good or bad. its all part of being part of this community and as much as some things we find disturbing, unless its really abuse and not part of the community guidelines we just read it and move on. if people are abusing the guidelines they need to be reported and customer care will take care of them.

You are right, this site works best when it is impersonal, or people could too easily be set up, whether maliciously or by people who are dependant and vulnerable.
