Don't get me wrong yahoo answers has it place, and it good for general advice. But when people ask questions that would be better suited for a professional. (ie doctor, lawyer, veterinarian), isn't that annoying. Especially if its a problem that must be examine in real life. I just find it annoying when someone asks a stupid question and gets 99 (go see your doctor) responses. Are people really that dumb?Does it annoy you when people come to yahoo answers for expert advice.?
AM I PREGNANT???Does it annoy you when people come to yahoo answers for expert advice.?
I agree. What also bothers me is really personal questions about things such as child molestation (saw one of these earlier today). I do not feel this is the place for questions like that!
no it doesnt bother me. sometimes people dont know what to do and simply need to be pointed in the right direction, which would be seeing a professional. a bunch of people telling them to see a professional would warm them up to the idea, and i would be more than happy to help them with that.
I know. I just saw a ' do you think my arm is broken?' loved that one. like let me get out my super x-ray machine and you sit real still in front of your computer while I zap the button here. ya got it, no its just sprained and your good to go. next... so you think you might be pregnant,ok pee on your key board and we will have an answer for you in ten seconds. yep your pregnant. now every is happy right? ya. good job yahoo! did you know we are all doctors? and good ones at that. lol
Some of them are probubly young and don't know any better, or are scared to go to doctor and looking for other answers. Its not that annoying, maybe just don't answer them
Sometimes folks here have already experienced the problem someone is seeking information about so, I don't agree...
Either they are, or somone is pulling your leg with questions like ';I have shot myself and I am bleeding everywhere. What can I do to stop the bleeding?';
Well you are right but I'd like to back them up before you call them dumb because I've been there.
Believe it or not, there are some professionals here, such as myself I tend to answer a lot more Computer %26amp; Internet questions and more specifically, Programming and design questions (yes I'm qualified to call myself an expert. And those who ask are usually beginners looking for expert advice. I'm not sure if you are an expert in anything which is why it may be annoying you. But remember that one person eventually will be an expert, or close to it, and if the question recieves 30 answers then it's likely that one answer will be an experts opinion or advice from someone who has been there before.
Its better to ask then not ask at all... they aren't taking every answer seriously.
Since there are many professionals on Answers it doesnt bother me. I think most of them just need someone to say something nice to calm them down or help them decide what to do. I think most probably seek professional advice from the answers they get here.
What could be more harmful is if they dont ask and do something completely wrong for their situation.
Yeah, I just told someone to consult their doctor. She wanted to know is she should go into a pool after she had a baby a month ago with her stiches. Um, Ok....
totally... i agree with u .... i also do not like that people talk about things that are so personal that contains adult content.... and i hate it when people ask the most dumbest questions and people always respond with the same and simplest answer just to get points.... i hate it when people say only yes... i need to also know why!!!
I think a fair number of them are that dumb, or that poor, or that young, or have no other resources than the knowledge of strangers.
It's sobering and sad to realize how many people who appear to be adults or older teens yet have no knowledge of safe sex practices, or money management, or what their rights are as tenants, citizens, or consumers.
Of course it's foolish to seek medical or legal advice online, but if 99 people say See the damned doctor, the person's more likely to see the damned doctor, right?
What irks me more are the people who clearly have no expertise who post advice anyway. Suggestions that the person asking a legal question sue the other person, when there's clearly no basis for a lawsuit, for example, are common. You can get 99 answers that are all wrong.
Thumbs up hot tamale--you said it!!
